Post-9/11 GI Bill® / Chapter 33
The Post-9/11 GI Bill® / Chapter 33 helps Veterans or Family to pay for some, or all, of the cost of school or training. Using the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, the VA will pay the tuition directly to the school, and send the student a monthly housing stipend based on location, along with $500 per semester (Spring and Fall) to aid in book fees. The student does not make any payments directly to the school with the Post-9/11 GI Bill®. For more information, including criteria for use, see the VA’s Post-9/11 GI Bill® website.
Montgomery GI Bill® / Chapter 30
The Montgomery GI Bill® / Chapter 30 helps Veterans or Family cover some, or all, of the costs for school or training. Under the Montgomery GI Bill®, the VA will pay the student directly, and the student must pay the school fees. Monthly payment depends on the eligibility of the student which can be found, along with eligibility criteria, on the VA’s Montgomery GI Bill® / Chapter 30 website.
Montgomery GI Bill® – Select Reserve / Chapter 1606
The Montgomery GI Bill® – Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR, Chapter 1606) is an education program providing up to 36 months of education benefits to members of the Selected Reserve. This includes the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard Reserves as well as the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.
Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program / Chapter 35
If you’re a dependent spouse or child—or the surviving spouse or child—of a veteran, you may qualify for Chapter 35 benefits or job training through a GI Bill® program. You will find information on the VA Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program / Chapter 35 website.
